Το τελευταίο αντίο πριν από το γήπεδο των αγγέλων είπαν σήμερα όλοι στο Λίβερπουλ για τον προπονητή που έγραψε ιστορία με την ομάδα της Έβερτον. Ανάμεσα στο πλήθος ήταν οι Σερ Άλεξ Φέργκιουσον, Γουέιν Ρούνεϊ και Τιμ Κάραχερ.

 

Ο Χάουαρντ Κένταλ απεβίωσε σε ηλικία 69 ετών και ήταν ο κορυφαίος προπονητής στην ιστορία των «ζαχαρωτών», καθώς μαζί τους κατέκτησε δύο πρωταθλήματα (1985, 1987), ένα Κύπελλο (1984) και το Κυπελλούχων (1985), ενώ ως παίκτης κατέκτησε μαζί της ένα πρωτάθλημα (1970) κι ένα Κύπελλο (1968). Το 1994 είχε ένα σύντομο πέρασμα από τον πάγκο της Ξάνθης, ενώ τη σεζόν 1998/99 πέρασε από τον Εθνικό Πειραιώς.
